Obituary for Mahlon R. Osterhout Sr.

Mahlon R. Osterhout Sr., 95, of Tyrone, passed away Monday at his home. He was born in Bald Eagle, son of the late Roger G. and Bessie E. (Schmidt) Osterhout.

He is survived by daughters, Barbara L. Miller (Reg) and Darlene R. Tuskovich (Paul); a son, Mahlon R. Osterhout Jr.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his many friends and family.

He was preceded in death by wives, Verna L. Riggleman and Sandra L. Wilson; children: Arthur Leroy Osterhout Sr., Mahlon C. Osterhout Sr., Suzanne Decker; grandchildren: Michael W. Osterhout, Mahlon C. Osterhout Jr. and Carol Bright; great-grandchildren: Tristan J. Burke, David Denny and Thomas Denny; and five brothers. He was the last of his immediate family.

Mahlon was a member of Hookies and the NRA.

In 1993 he retired from New Enterprise Stone & Lime, following 12 years at Berwind Railways in Hollidaysburg, and 9 years at PA Railroad.

Mahlon enjoyed welding, and working on cars and trucks.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Friday, May 12, 2023, at Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone. The Rev. Carl A. Schmidt will be officiating. Burial will be private.
