Obituary for Lois E. Cassady (Tooker)

Lois E. Cassady, age 90, passed peacefully on January 22, 2024 at home with family. Always a busy,
talented and creative mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she spent her entire life caring for
and serving others while unwilling to seek praise, attention or thanks.
Lois was born in New York on October 12, 1933 to Harold Tooker and Helen Whitman Tooker. She was
preceded in death by her husband Robert Cassady of Tyrone, and his two children Robert Cassady Jr.
and Susan Gates. Lois is survived by her children Lori Long Schoch, Lizabeth Keller Grosh, Tamara Offen,
Kerry Keller and stepson Sherman Keller. Lois was also a grandmother of 16 and great-grandmother of
21.
In her youth Lois had an interest in horses and won ribbons in rodeo competition. As an adult Lois was a
tailor and a crafter. She was well known for creating beautiful quilts, wall hangings, doll clothes,
costumes, gowns, pillows, curtains and hand painted shirts.
She is remembered for her high energy and as an active member of the community as a school crossing
guard, babysitter and caregiver for seniors. Lois was an avid reader and donated time, books and quilts
to the Tyrone Library. She also baked numerous cookies, pies and cakes for the Hospital Auxiliary. Lois
worked at the election polls, taught jewelry making classes at the senior center and volunteered at
Epworth Manor.
At the family’s request services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tyrone
Snyder Public Library.
