Obituary for Linda Lee Montanaro

Linda L. (Zimmerman) Montanaro, 70, of Tyrone, PA died Monday, May 2, 2016 at UPMC Hospital after a courageous bout with breast and lung cancer. Ms. Montanaro was born November 19, 1945 in Altoona, the daughter of Robert E. and Ruth (Lingle) Zimmerman. Linda was married prior to meeting her lifelong friend Frank L. Cannistraci, with whom she resided. Lawrence Montanaro (deceased) was the father of her surviving daughter (Jacqueline M. (Montanaro) Bortner.
She was in 1963 gradate of Altoona Area High School. Ms. Montanaro has been employed for 27 years as the Administrative Assistant for the Tyrone Borough Police Department where she worked up until the date of her death. She was known for her willingness to serve the public.
Ms. Montanaro was an avid reader, enjoyed all types of songs and loved the beach. Her greatest joy of all were her four grandchildren with whom she made a lot of fond memories.
Surviving alongside her daughter, Jacqueline and husband Michael E. Bortner, of York, PA, Linda is survived by her grandchildren, Jeremy of Baltimore, MA Jacob of York, PA, Amanda of Houston, TX, and Josiah of York, PA. She was preceded in death by a brother Robert II who died in 1994.
Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc., 115 W. 10th St., Tyrone, PA. Funeral service for Ms. Montanaro will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 10:00 AM with a one hour visitation leading up until the time of service.
