Obituary for Kenneth R. Walk

Mr. Kenneth R. Walk, age 83, of Vanscoyoc Hollow (Tyrone) died Thursday, February 18, 2016 at his residence. He was born December 15, 1932 in Philipsburg, the son of Gordon and Margaret Clewell Walk. On January 22, 1993 at the Bald Eagle United Methodist Church he was married to Dale Ann Evans who survives.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Denise A. (Jack) Fink, Pamela (Jim) Daughenbaugh and Peggy A.(Richard) Woomer, all of Tyrone, and 2 step-daughter, April Chubb and Lynette Reichenbach, both of Mifflintown. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Kelly (Scott) Greene, Jacki (Steve) Weyer, Jamie Daughenbaugh, James R. (Kelly) Daughenbaugh, Jared S. (Sarah) Daughenbaugh, Bradley A. Wolfe; 3 step-grandchildren, Heather Schaffer, Heidi Schaffer, and Emily Feconda; 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Wilda Pierce of Porta Matilda, Ruth Walk of Tyrone, a brother, Blair Walk of Erie and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by 2 brothers, Jerry and Gene, a sister Beatrice, his first wife, Delores and a grandson, Kenny Wolfe.
He was a member of the Bald Eagle United Methodist Church and the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company. He was a veteran of the service with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School, Class of 1951 and also attended trade school where he studies to become a machinist. In 1998 Ken retired from the Chicago Rivet and Machine Co. where he had been employed for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and many other outdoor activities. He also loved his rides, his dog, and most of all spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, with Reverends Matthew Peachy and Roy Garthwaite officiating, followed by military honors with flag presentation by Tyrone Honor Guard. Private interment will follow at Bald Eagle Cemetery in Tyrone.
