Obituary for Kathy Lyn Egley

Kathy Lyn (Hardy) Egley, 70 went to glory on October 18, 2021, 10:45 AM at Penn Highlands,
Tyrone of congestive heart failure. She was born on September 12, 1951, in Philipsburg, PA, the daughter of the late Leonard Dean and Mary Jane (Haverstine) Hardy, Sr. Kathy was the
youngest of five. Kathy is survived by one sister Stella Jane Allen, of Charleston, SC; two
brothers: Leonard Dean Hardy, Jr. of Carlisle, PA, and Terry L. (Rosemary) Hardy, of Millsboro
DE; a plethora of nephews and nieces; and her fiancé: Scott Hiller, of Tyrone, PA. She was
preceded in death by one sister: Saundra “Sandy” Kay Shaner; and two sons: Marc A. Egley, and Jeffrey R. Egley.
Kathy attended Adams Elementary School and graduated with honors form Tyrone Area High
School, class of 1969. In high school she was a varsity cheerleader, a soprano in Concert Choir, Girl’s Ensemble and Mixed Ensemble. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1973 with a BA in Secondary Education – English.
In August 1973, she married her former husband, Richard W. Egley and moved to Arkansas. They then moved to Indiana, and finally to Platteville, WI where she spent most of her adult life. During that time, Kathy was a teacher, retail clerk (where she met President Clinton long before he entered politics), and a dental assistant. Kathy was raised in the Church of the Brethren, and as an adult became a Methodist.
Kathy loved her cats, the movie and book “Gone with the Wind”, she took pride in being the
“Queen of Clean”, murder mysteries and books, reading, music, both classical and rock and roll, English Tudor history, and her friends from high school.
Kathy requested no viewing or memorial service. The family plans on having a
