Obituary for Judith Ann Ray

Judith Ann (Stouffer) Ray, 81 of Tyrone, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. She was born in Tyrone, on August 14, 1942, the daughter of the late Robert and Verna M. (Eckley) Stouffer. On January 9, 1961 in Rockville, MD she married Jesse Elwood Ray Jr. who preceded her in death on September 21, 2000. She is survived by three daughters: Deborah K. (Dave) Swartwood of Binghamton, NY, Denise K. (Chet Hagerty) of Martinsburg, and Doreen K. (Alan) Walls of Tyrone; eight grandchildren: Nikki Schoch, April Law, Jesson, Jordon and Jaylon Beck, Zeth Hagerty, and Rayann and Wyatt Walls; six great-grandchildren: Raina Schoch, Marrah and Aidan Smith, Abigail Law, and Colton and Rayla Beck; five siblings: Janet Mentzer of Patton, Robert Stouffer of Arkansas, James (Leona) Stouffer of Tyrone, Donna Cherry of Bellwood, and Dennis Stouffer of Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a 1961 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. She was a member of Grazierville United Methodist Church where she served as a former treasurer and helped out with congregational meals as well as meals on wheels. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star as well as the Jaffa Shrine Hillbilly Clan. She worked for Big Yank as a trimmer before becoming co-owner and vice-president of Rayco Transportation; driving bus and bookkeeping for 28 years.

She enjoyed preparing meals for family and anyone that stopped by, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, crafting, camping, baking, loved watching her soaps, and playing Candy Crush Soda. She also traveled to Colorado as a Christian youth group advisor.

A 1 pm funeral service for Judith Ann Ray will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Feller Memorial Home, with Pastor Preston Hutchins officiating. Private interment will be made at Seven Stars Cemetery.
