Obituary for John D. Feagley

John D. Feagley, 87 of Tyrone, died Monday, December 9, 2019. He was born in Huntingdon on November 12, 1932 the son of the late Robert L. And Kathryn M. (Miller) Feagley. On June 20, 1964 at Grace Lutheran Church in Bellwood he married Ruth E. Marsden who preceded him in death on May 19, 1999. John is survived by one son: Douglas J. Feagley of Germantown, MD; one daughter: Laurel D. Coy of Altoona; two sisters: Jean Becker and Barbara Worthy; one brother: James Ross Jr.; three granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.
John was a 1950 graduate from Huntingdon Area High School. In 1953 he enlisted in the US Army and served as both active duty and then reserves until 1961. He was employed as a correctional officer at the State Correctional Facility in Huntingdon from 1987 to 1998. He had also been employed as a printer for the Huntingdon Daily News, the Harrisburg Patriot News and the Altoona Mirror as well as working for Corning Fiberglass in Huntingdon.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Bellwood where he also taught adult Sunday school class and served on the council. John enjoyed gardening, reading, especially books on the civil war, and watching British mysteries and comedies.
