Obituary for John Mark Andrews
John Mark Andrews, 87 of Tyrone died Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at his residence. He was born on May 30, 1932 the son of the late John McCord and Gladys Young Andrews. On July 27, 1952 at the Columbia Avenue Methodist Church, he married Betty J. Lynn who preceded him in death on December 5, 2015. John is survived by three brothers: Roy (Elizabeth) Andrews, George (Suzzane) Andrews, Brett (Chris) Andrews; Brother-in-law: Charles (Rachel) Lynn; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by one sister: Judy Maher; and one brother: Ron Andrews.
John was a graduate of Tyrone High School. He was member of the Tyrone Church of the Good Shepherd and with his wife was a youth counselor for over 30 years. John worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. He spent many years as a baseball coach, he managed a team in the Altoona Greater City League, the Tyrone Teener Giants and Teener Pirates, winning championships with all three teams. John was also regarded as a good cook and baker.
Friends will be received on Sunday, June 16, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. and on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 10 to 11 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd. An 11 AM funeral service will be held on Monday June 17, 2019 at the Church of the Good Shepherd with pastor Eric Shafer officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the care of the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc.
