Obituary for Joe Ann Ruffner (Burket)
Joe Ann Ruffner, age 73, formerly of Bald Eagle, PA; Huntingdon, PA; Lock Haven, PA and most recently State College, PA went home to be with the LORD on 1/22/22. She was born 9/13/1948 in Phillipsburg, PA. She was married to Cornelius Ruffner who preceded her in death in December of 1993.
Joe Ann was a 1966 graduate of Tyrone High School known as the "Sassy 66ers." Joe Ann was a loving mother who was active in her children's school activities at Juniata Valley High School and held various jobs over the years before her retirement. Her favorite place to work was Hoss's in Huntingdon, PA where she made many friends and fond memories.
Joe Ann was preceded in death by her parents Howard J. and Georgia (Joyce) Burket and brother William T. Burket, all of Bald Eagle, PA.
She is survived by her sister, Cindy Mills and her husband of Bald Eagle, PA.
Daughter Wendy Remick and husband Dave of Lock Haven, PA. Grandchildren Nicholas Galvan of San Antonio, TX; Marissa Escamilla of San Antonio, TX; Ryan Gonzalez of Lancaster, PA.
Son Cord Ruffner and wife Tracy of State College, PA. Grandchildren Danielle Schmidt and husband Jed of Lacey, WA; Faith Hartman and husband Jason of Pleasant Gap, PA; Joshua Ruffner, Samuel Ruffner, Abigail Ruffner, Benjamin Ruffner, and Lydia Ruffner all of State College, PA.
Daughter Shelly Weiler and husband Zack of Florida. Grandson Sean Ruffner of Lock Haven, PA.
Great grandchildren Andrew, Christian, Matthew, Alison, Kenna and Everett.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life to honor Joe Ann at 11am, with a service to follow, on Saturday, March the 5th at Christ Community Church, 200 Ellis Place, State College, PA 16801. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to Christ Community Church, State College, PA.
