Obituary for Janet M. Isenberg

Janet M. Isenberg, 84 of Tyrone, previously of Alexandria, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019. She was born November 1, 1934 in Petersburg, the daughter of the late Samuel Adam and Hazel (Burket) Miller. On August 22, 1953 in Petersburg, she married N. Lex Isenberg who preceded her in death in 1990. Janet is survived by three sons: Steven L. (Jane) Isenberg of Tyrone, Stan R. (JoAnn) Isenberg of Huntingdon and Sam M. (Tracy) Isenberg of Alexandria; one daughter: Lori J. (Fred) Beckwith of Tyrone; eight grandchildren: Nick Isenberg, Kairann Smutz, Jonathan and Jason Isenberg, Alexis and Colton Isenberg and Tyler and Trey Beckwith; twelve great-grandchildren with one on the way; one sister: Marlene (Tom) Moran; and one brother: Dick (Darlene) Miller. She was preceded in death by one grandson: Nathan Isenberg; and one sister: Donna Mae Holland.
Janet was a 1952 graduate of Juniata Valley High School and served as Postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service at the Alexandria Post Office, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. She was a member of the Barree Community Bible Church where she was currently serving as treasurer, a position she had held for many years. She was an avid sports fan and big supporter of the Duke Blue Devils. She liked reading and enjoyed golfing but most of all she loved to spend time with her many grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Barree Community Bible Church with pastor Bill Benson officiating. Friends will be received at the church from noon until the 1:00 p.m. service. Contributions in Janet’s memory can be made to the Barree Community Bible Church, 5154 Barree Lane, Alexandria, PA 16611.
