Obituary for James C. Delozier

James C. Delozier, age 89, of Tyrone died Thursday, November 26, 2015 at his home. He was born December 1, 1925 at Tyrone Forge, the son of James and Agnes Tolan Delozier. On May 17, 1975 he was married to Jayne A. Cupp who died October 25, 2008. He is survived by two daughters, Joan (David) Richards and Jackie (John) Closson, both of Tyrone, five grandchildren – Travis (Erin) Campbell, Pinecroft, Valerie (Bryan) Wertz, Bald Eagle, Ashley Campbell and fiancée Luke Hoover, Lauren Closson, all of Tyrone and Christopher Closson, Hollidaysburg, and great-grandchildren Lydia, Hannah, Allison, Connor, Emma, Kylin, Haley, Lindsay and Benjamin, three nieces – Elizabeth Ann Funke, Christina Lake and Constance Colyer and grand nieces and nephews Clayton, Heather, Laura, Christopher and Aaron. He was preceded by a daughter Julie Stott, a granddaughter Rachel Stott, a sister Elizabeth Snyder, a niece Sarah Snyder and brother in law Albert Snyder.
James was a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1944. He was a veteran of service in the US Army during World War II serving in the European Theater of operations at which time he received the Purple Heart. He had been employed at the Tyrone Post office for 40 years as a rural mail carrier, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
James loved to garden and share his bountiful crops with family and friends. He spent his entire life sharing and doing for others. He was a member of the bowling league at Westend Lanes and loved watching Notre Dame and New England Patriots football
A Funeral Mass for James C. Delozier will be Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11 A M at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with Father Jozef Kovacik at celebrant. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Tyrone Honor Guard at which time they will use a flag which had been flown over Afghanistan by an A-10C Warthog to show support for Operation Enduring Freedom. Friends will be received at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM.
