Obituary for Jack Earl Waite

Jack Earl Waite, 92 of Tyrone, died Sunday, June 9, 2019. Jack was born on August 1, 1926, the son of the late Earl Charles and Clara Bell Snyder Waite. On December 25, 1946 at the Alliance Church of Fuoss Mills he married Shirley Marie Fuoss who preceded him in death on December 20, 2015. Jack is survived by two sons: David (Kathy) Waite of Bedford and Daniel (Holly) Waite of Tyrone; and three grandchildren: Kristin, Jonathan and Benjamin Waite. He was preceded by one brother: Robert Waite; and two sisters: Liticia Waite and Mardell Miller. He was the last of his immediate family.

Jack was a graduate of Tyrone High School and a veteran of the US Army. Jack achieved the rank of Corporal, serving during World War II as an airplane and engine mechanic and instructor. He was awarded with the American Theater Ribbon, a World War II Victory Ribbon and a Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Waite served as a missionary and pastor at churches in Cumberland, Mass., from 1950-54; in Cresson from 1970-76; and in Coalport from 1976-88, at which time he retired. He had also served as a missionary to Indonesia from 1954-68, and did pulpit supply at various churches including two years in Karthaus.

Jack was a lifetime member of the Alliance Church of Fuoss Mills where he served faithfully and was an elder for several years during his time of service. He enjoyed fishing, trains, mission work and garage sales.

Memorial service for Jack E. Waite will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 4 PM at the Faith Alliance Church of Fuoss Mills. Friends will be received from 3 PM until the 4 PM service with Pastor David Nagel officiating.
