Harold Robert “Andy” Anderson, 81 of Tyrone, and formerly of Byron, GA, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, surrounded by family. He was born in Hephzibah, GA on January 2, 1941, the son of the late Hubert Robert and Mary Virginia (Gunn) Anderson. He was formerly married to Ellen Irene Anderson who survives, and on January 1, 1980, in Byron, GA, he married Geraldine Harris who survives. Also surviving are three children: Christine Denise Anderson (Ronnie) Benton of Beulah, AL, Lisa (Barry) Shaffer of Tyrone, and Lori (Mark) Howard of Macon, GA: six grandchildren: April Smith Rogers, Braxton and Kody Smith, Jessica and Josh Daniel, and Jared Howard; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his great-grandmother: Sadie Bell Arrington of August, GA; and two sisters: Sylvia Anderson Stapleton of Milledgeville, GA, and June Anderson.


Andy was an over the road truck driver for over 40 years, and he also operated heavy equipment. He loved truck driving and continued to drive for as long as he was able. He was of the Baptist faith.


He enjoyed NASCAR, loved country life, liked bush hogging with his John Deere, feeding all of his wild critters, watching the news and his westerns, and listening to old country music.


Services for Harold Robert “Andy” Anderson will be held at the convenience of the family. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
