Obituary for George W. Conrad Sr.

George W. Conrad Sr., 74, of Tyrone, Pennsylvania went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, April 6, 2023. George will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched during his time on earth. George leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Nancy Mae (Miller), four children: Sandy (Joel) Shultzaberger, Brenda (Steve) Hanzir, Dana (Mike) Hosko, and George (Kristy) Conrad, six grandchildren: Allen (Kelly) Hosko, Bethany (Christopher) Illig, Stephen Hanzir, Allison (Anthony) Politza, Michael Conrad, and Diana (Bobby) Bowman, six great-grandchildren, two sisters: Jane Irvin and Sandy (Jeff) Thompson, two sister in-laws: Catherine and Peggy Conrad, his Bald Eagle Christian and Missionary Alliance Church family, as well as numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Wilma (Friday) Conrad, two brothers, Fred and Leslie “Zip,” and brother in-law, Gene Irvin.
George retired from SCI Rockview as a corrections officer in 2002, was a church elder at the Bald Eagle C&MA and served on the Oak Ridge Water Authority board.
George loved his family and his church with a passion, and he led by example on how to put your family second only to Jesus Christ. He was a man of few words, but really knew how to deliver a punch line. He has also been known to orchestrate a brilliant prank or two.
Following retirement, George could be found working on one of several projects he had going on in his garage, out adventuring with his wife, working at his church, or helping one of his
children/grandchildren with a busted car, home repair, or some task that surely fishing line, epoxy, WD-40, or duct tape could fix.
George loved dogs, iced tea, and his sweets, trips to the river in Alexandria Bay, NY with his family, attending car shows and yard sales, and listening to the ‘60’s on 6 radio station.
