Obituary for Gary Lee Eyer
Gary Lee Eyer, 72 of Maryville, TN, formerly of Tyrone, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023. He was born in Tyrone on June 25, 1951, the son of the late F. Eugene Sr. and Miriam (Umholtz) Eyer. He and his wife, Joyce L. (Mogridge) Eyer, just celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. They were married on June 21, 1976 in Maryville, TN. Along with his wife he is survived by three children: Kane (LeAnn) Eyer, Carrie (Andrew) Johnson, and Joseph (Heather) Eyer; seven grandchildren: Kane Jr., Benjamin, Kristen, Gage, Caylor, Gannon, and Peyton; four siblings: Sue Quarry, Deb (Josie) Eyer, Ken Eyer, and Diane (Bruce) Babe; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by siblings: Dixie Drabkin, F. Eugene Eyer Jr., and Nancy Bruckner.
Gary was a 1969 graduate of Tyrone Area High School where he participated in wrestling. He worked on his family farm in Warriors Mark and later opened up an Antique Shop with his wife in Maryville, TN. He was a member and the “Coordinator” of Mit’s Dream Hunting Camp where he could always be found during hunting season.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, canning, following PSU and Tyrone wrestling, antiquing and yard sales with his wife, and most of all he loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed coordinating and participating in the Rodeo’s at the Lazy E from the 60’s through 1992.
A celebration of life for Gary Lee Eyer will be held on October 21, 2023 at 1 pm at his daughters home located at 183 Trail Ridge Ln, Tyrone, PA, 16686. In lieu of flowers contributions in Gary’s memory may be made to the Tyrone FFA, 1001 Clay Ave, Tyrone, PA 16686 or the Tyrone Wrestling Boosters, 4518 Meadow Wood Ln, Warriors Mark, PA 16877.
