Fremont C. “Mont” Reffner, 86, of St. Augustine, FL and formerly of Bellwood, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022. He was born in Bellwood on June 29, 1936, the son of the late Harry and Catherine (Cromer) Reffner. On June 11, 1959, in Altoona, he married Christine C. Hopkins who preceded him in death on June 13, 1994. He is survived by three daughters: Dorenda (Daniel) Troxell of Shamokin, PA, Kimberly A. Reffner, and Gail (John) Williams, both of St. Augustine, FL; four grandchildren: Justin (Heather) Troxell, Jason (Vanessa) Reffner, and Andrew and Christina Williams ; and one great-grandchild: Raelynn Reffner. He was preceded by one brother: George Reffner; and one sister: Izzy Colledge.
Mont was a graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School. After school he began a career in the military, serving honorably in the US Army Corps of Engineers before retiring after 23 years of service.
He enjoyed reading, NASCAR, traveling on day trips, gardening and planting, woodworking, spending time with his family, and his dog Pugsly.
An 11 am funeral service will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022, at the Feller Memorial Home with Reverend Ron Baker officiating. Friends will be received on Sunday evening, October 9, 2022 from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be made at Blair Memorial Park following the 11 am service on Monday.
