Fred S. Friday Sr., 90, of Bald Eagle and a guest of Epworth Manor died Sunday, November 22, 2020. He was born on June 16, 1930, the son of the late Samuel T. and Orpha (Reese) Friday. On July 8, 1950 in Hagerstown, MD he married Gwenavere Allen who preceded him in death on July 29, 1976. He is survived by one daughter: Cynthia (J. Matthew) McKee of Altoona; three grandchildren: Michele (Christopher) Esper, Michael (Jaime) McKee, and Kirsten Friday; four great-grandchildren: Mia and Ellie Esper, and Megan and Benjamin McKee; and a very special friend: Rose. He was preceded in death by a son: Fred S. Friday Jr.; two brothers; and two sisters. Fred was the last of his immediate family.
Fred was a 1948 graduate of Tyrone High School. He worked at Westvaco as a foreman before retiring in 1995 after 43 years of service. He was a member of the Spring Mount Church of the Brethren, the Tyrone F & AM lodge #494, lodge council chapter consistory valley of Altoona, BPOE Lodge #212, and The Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Volunteer Fire Company.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his very special friend Rose.
Due to COVID, funeral services for Fred S. Friday Sr. will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Fred’s memory may be made to the organization of the donor’s choice.
