Obituary for Francis Eugene Evans
Francis Eugene Evans, 91, passed away on Wednesday June 8, 2022. Francis was born in Tyrone, on March 13, 1931, son of the late Federick R. and Idella (Black) Evans in Tyrone. On May 14, 1954 he married Dana Mae Roberts in Washington D.C. who preceded him. Surviving are three children: Lynne (Douglas) Drenner, Catherine (John) Lantz, and Jeff (Betty) Evans; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; and companion Virgie Warner. He was preceded by a brother Fredrick Evans and was the last of his immediate family.
Francis was a 1949 graduate of Tyrone High School. He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War and was proud of his service. An electrician by trade, Francis was self-employed and owned Control Wiring Inc.
He belonged to Church Jacob’s in Hesston, PA and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
A memorial service for Francis Eugene Evans will be held at the convenience of the family with interment at Bald Eagle Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Tyrone American Legion Post 281, 1459 Lincoln Ave.. Tyrone, PA 16686
