Obituary for Flora R. Neal (Ritchey)
Flora R. Neal, 96 of Tyrone, formerly of Altoona, passed away Thursday morning. She had been a resident at The Preserve at Cedarwood ALF, formerly Epworth Manor PC, Tyrone, for the past six years. She was born in Lakemont, a daughter of the late Robert R. and Martha (Feather) Ritchey.
She was first married to Chalmer Eugene Thomas in 1945 who preceded her in death in 1959, then to Theodore Neal in 1963 who preceded her in death in 2004. Surviving are her children, Jeffrey Thomas (Susan) of TX, Jennifer Weston (Richard) of Tyrone, and Theodore Neal (Robert Cannatelli) of Haverhill, MA; 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; and two sisters: Gale Clapper of Lakemont and Sherry Robeson of East Freedom, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert J. Ritchey, Jon Ritchey, and Douglas Ritchey; three sisters: Germaine Ritchey, Wynema Decker, and infant Wanda Faye Ritchey; and one grandson: Shawn Thomas.
Flora was a 1945 graduate of Altoona High School, was a member of the Lakemont Alumni Association, as well as a member of Grace United Church of Christ. She was an avid reader, and accomplished seamstress and enjoyed studying the family history with her sisters at the Blair County Genealogical Society in Hollidaysburg.
A private family viewing and service will be held at a later date.
