Obituary for Davidlee J. Kelley

Davidlee J. Kelley, 89 of Tyrone and formerly of Altoona died Wednesday, May 5, 2021. He was born in Altoona on June 9, 1931 the son of the late Leo C. and Martha C. (Ryan) Kelley. On June 20, 1953 he married Alyce Joy McCracken who preceded him in death on January 22, 2020. He is survived by three children: Michael A. Kelley, Mark A. (Kathy) Kelley, and Eileen K. (Donald) Gearhart; two granddaughters: Bridget Goodman and Kristy Auman; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister: Lucinda Weyant. He was preceded by two sisters: Beverly Kelley and Marlene Dively.
Davidlee was a graduate of Altoona High School as well as Penn State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He was of the Presbyterian faith and was very active in the church. He worked for various companies as a logistical Engineer. He also served honorable as a Sergeant in the US Air Force from 1949 to 1953. He was a ham radio specialist stationed in Alaska monitoring foreign communications during the Korean War.
He loved to hunt and was a skilled woodworker. He enjoyed making furniture for family members as well as making toys to donate to the Toys For Tots campaign.
