Obituary for Dale W. James

Dale W. James, 78 of Tyrone, died Tuesday, July 6, 2021. He was born in Tyrone on December 13, 1942 the son of the late Boyd and Edith (Swartz) James. He was first married to Candace Martz who preceded him in death on August 30, 1996. In 1998 in York Pennsylvania he married Alice (Craig) Lair who survives. Also surviving are two sons: Sheldon D. (Chris), and Timothy W. (Dana) James; three stepchildren: Colette Wildsmith, Sandy-Berk (Ruth) and Brandy-Brett Butler; one brother Robert James; 9 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Clarissa James; and two brothers: Vernon and Carlton James.
Dale was a 1961 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. He served honorably in the US Army National Guard. He was an evangelist and served with his wife as a missionary to Brazil and Peru for five years. He was employed by Ruetgers Nease Chemical Company where he retired as a supervisor.
He was a member of Tres Dias of Altoona, he enjoyed walking, shooting matches at the Tyrone Sportsmen, was a passionate hunter, liked watching the Steelers and loved camping.
Funeral services with military honors for Dale W. James will be held at noon on Saturday July 10, 2021 at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. Friends will be received on Friday July 9, 2021 from 1-3 and 5-7 pm at the funeral home as well as from 11 am until the noon service on Saturday. Private Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park. Contributions in Dale’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Ave, New York, NY 10001.
