Clinton Dale Gault, 93 of Altoona and formerly of Tyrone, died Wednesday, July 29, 2020. He was born on January 22, 1927 in Grazierville the son of the late James Benner and Lyda (Johnsonbaugh) Gault. On July 11, 1950 in Tyrone he married Mary C. Thomas who preceded him in death on September 13, 1999. Clinton is survived by one son: Thomas (Jennifer) Gault of Florida; two grandchildren: Molly Evonne Gault (David) Ishmael and Dale Thomas (Christy Sain) Gault; and one great-granddaughter: Sophia Mary Ishmael. He was preceded by eight brothers and sisters: Catherine “Kay” Matz, Samuel “Sam” Gault, Twins; James “Ben” Gault and Hilda Cherry, Eleanor “Nel” Jackson, Harry Gault, James “June” Gault Jr. and Nelson “Sonny” Gault. Clinton was the last of his immediate family.
Clinton was a 1944 graduate of Tyrone High School. He was also a veteran of the US Army and served honorably during World War II. He previously attended the United Methodist Church in Greenwood. He was a member of the Heidelberg Country Club and was involved with VFW Post 3 James L. Noble Post.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sketching and was an excellent woodworker and carpenter.
