Obituary for Clair LeRoy Ray Jr. Jr.

Clair LeRoy Ray Jr., 88 of Tyrone, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023. He was born in Tyrone on April 16, 1935, the son of the late Clair L. and Millie (Phillips) Ray Sr. On June 21, 1957, in Tyrone, he married Leah (Yaudes) Ray who survives. Also surviving are five children Dwayne Ray, Lynette (Sally) Ray of Arizona, Harold (Elizabeth) Ray of Dacula, GA, Scott (Hope) Ray of Bellwood, and Karen Raling of Tyrone; eight grandchildren: Jaymie (Henryk), Heather (Chris), Natasha (Tyler), Holly (Doug), Brandie, Leigha (Michael), Leisha (Matthew), and Levi; and nine great-grandchildren: Lucas, Joseph, Tucker, Dougie, Ella, Mia, Lincoln, Landon, and Lydia. He was preceded by a grandson: Zackery; great-grandson: Isaac; son-in-law: Harrison Raling; and two sisters: Carmen and Janice. He was the last of his immediate family.
Clair was a 1953 graduate of Tyrone Area High School and retired as a truck driver for Fleming Trucking. He was a member of Tipton Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Bellwood Sportsman Club.
He enjoyed watching football, fishing, camping, and playing his harmonica. He was also heavily involved in volunteer work with his wife, traveling to Florida and Thailand to do missions work with Wycliffe Associates, and donating unnumbered gallons of blood.
An 11 am memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Tipton Baptist Church. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the service. Inurnment will be made following the service at Blair Memorial Park. Contributions in Clair’s memory may be made to Tipton Baptist Church, 708 Deborah St, Tipton, PA 16684.
