Obituary for Barbara Sessamen
Barbara L. Sessamen, 62, of Altoona, formerly of Tyrone, passed away Sunday. She was born in Tyrone, daughter of the late Ronald and Marjorie (Davis) Markel Sr. On Nov. 21, 2000, she married Edwin Sessamen, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, David Wayne Hoover Jr. of Martinsburg and William Allen Markel of Altoona; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother Ronald (Verna) Markel Jr. She was preceded in death by a brother, John J. Markel Sr., on Aug. 28, 2022.
Barb attended Tyrone High School, and previously attended Grazierville United Methodist Church. She worked for many years as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Epworth Manor where she helped and cared for the residence in many different capacities. She had a passion for taking care of people and always put others before herself. Barb loved her family and spending time with them.
Friends of Barbara L. Sessamen will be received from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, with Pastor Tim Bartholomew officiating. Private interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park.
