Obituary for Arthur C. Beckwith

Arthur C. Beckwith, age 94, of Tyrone died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at UPMC Altoona. He was born November 29, 1921 in Taylor Township, the son of Cimious A. and Sarah Elizabeth Hardy Beckwith. On December 31, 1949 in Tyrone he was married to Frances M. Kolessy who survives. Also surviving is a son, Alan Beckwith of California and a daughter Darlene (Donald) Bressler of Bald Eagle and a sister, Dorothy (Ralph) Thomas of Warriors Mark. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Dr. Nicole Bressler of Danville and Melissa (Jason) Heffner, Boalsburg and a great grandson Oliver E. Heffner of Boalsburg and a sister-in-law Marie Damico, Erie. He was preceded by a daughter Jeannie Diehl in 1974, a grandson Donald Scott Bressler and five brothers and one sister.
Mr. Beckwith attended the Tipton Baptist Church. He had been a rewinder operator at Westvaco, retiring in 1985. He was a veteran of service in the US Army in World War II, having served in the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign and was the recepient of three Bronze Stars. He was a member of Howard Gardner American Legion Post #281. He enjoyed being in the woods and being with his grandchildren and great-great grandson. He liked watching pro-football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A private funeral service for Mr. Beckwith will be held at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. , with Pastor John Pine officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in Bald Eagle Cemetery.
