Obituary for Annis Louise (Dayton) Bonsell

Annis Bonsell, 86 of Tyrone, died Saturday, January 2, 2021. She was born in Tyrone on September 27, 1934 the daughter of the late Washington Irving and Florence Edna (Nearhoof) Dayton. In May of 1951 she married Edward O. Bonsell who preceded her in June of 2000. She is survived by eleven nieces and nephews, two of whom live in the Tyrone area: Bonnie (Buterbaugh) Houser and Terry Elder. She was preceded by a son: Douglas Irving Bonsell; one granddaughter: Candy Bonsell; five brothers and sisters: Paul (Bessie Ike, Kathering, Dayton, Ruth (Harry) Elder, Betty (Milford) Buterbaugh, Washington (Lorraine, Bobbie) and Patricia (Robert) Piper; and an infant sibling.
Annis worked for several area businesses. Her first job was at Gib’s Place in Bald Eagle. She also worked for Palmer’s Western Auto, Central Distributors and Fink’s Hardware.
Annis was a devoted Christian. As a devoted pastor’s wife, she was very supportive of her husband’s ministry. She often sang and did Children’s Sermons. She was a member of the Spruce Creek United Methodist Church.
Private services to be held at the convenience of the family. Burial to be made at the Bald Eagle Cemetery. Contributions in Annis’ memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
