Obituary for Anna B. James

Anna B. James, 88, of Tyrone and a guest of Colonial Courtyard, died Monday, October 22, 2018. Born November 9, 1929 in Tyrone, the daughter of the late Lee and Maude Miller Lucas. On August 19, 1950 in Winchester, VA she married Major General Vernon E. James who preceded her in death on April 22, 2010. Anna is survived by 3 children: Deborah Walk of Tyrone, Joy (Robert) Branstetter of Philipsburg and Stephen (Susan) James of Tyrone; 4 grandchildren: Todd (Rachel) Walk, Jamie (Brian) Wagner, Christie (Gabe) Gates and Ashley (Jordan) Good; 2 step-grandchildren: Bob (Jen) Branstetter and Melissa (John) Bertinatti; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Robert and Harry Lucas and is the last of her immediate family.

Anna was a 1949 graduate of Tyrone High School and was employed at Proctor Silex before leaving the workforce to become a full time homemaker. Anna enjoyed her many trips with her husband to Atlantic City. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

An 11 AM memorial service for Anna B. James will be held Friday, October 26, 2018 at Christ United Methodist Church, 1359 Pennsylvania Ave, Tyrone, PA 16686 with Pastor Susan Arnold Officiating. Inurnment will be at Blair Memorial Park following the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Anna’s memory may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church in Tyrone as well as Colonial Courtyard, 5546 E Pleasant Valley Blvd, Tyrone, PA 16686.
