Obituary for Anna "Ann" Anderson

Anna “Ann” Anderson, 89, of Spruce Creek, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022. She was born to the late Blair and Ruth (Burchfield) Myers in Altoona on July 25, 1932. She married the love of her life on May 7, 1955, in Clearfield, to Ernest J. Anderson, who preceded her on July 10, 1990.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Lori (James Jr.) Dixon of Spruce Creek; grandchildren, Ian (Julie) Dixon of Petersburg, Caitlyn Dixon of Mississippi; several nieces and nephews; and friend, Louise Dixon who helped her with care when she needed it. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Myers, and Richard Myers.

She was a member of The Spruce Creek United Methodist Church. Ann graduated from Altoona School of Nursing in 1953 to become an RN, She loved helping others and had a knack for mentoring and teaching, having taught special education, she talked highly of her students. In 1990, she retired from JC Blair Hospital in Huntingdon, where she was affectionately known as “Andy”. Ann loved her pets and was centered around her family. To support her grandchildren, she went to Girl Scout and Boy Scout events, and band and choir events, in all kinds of weather. She enjoyed traveling and would use it for a reason to visit family.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 11am at Spruce Creek United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, consideration can be made to the Huntingdon County Humane Society, Janet Weis Children's Hospital, Grane Hospice Care and Kindred Hospice of Altoona. Arrangements are under the care of the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc.
